Graveside Services at St. Richard's Cemetery will be private

Yolanda F. Raker, a retired second grade school teacher at the former Swanton Township School, entered into eternal life, Sunday morning, June 1, 2014 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. She was 85. Yolanda was born June 11, 1928 in Lorain, Ohio to Stephen and Mary (Sestili) Rulli. She graduated from Lorain High School, and obtained her teaching degree from Bowling Green State University. On February 4, 1956, she married her beloved husband, William "Joy" Raker. He preceded her in death on August 10, 2011.

Yolanda taught school for 28 years. After retirement, she loved traveling with family and friends, especially to Las Vegas and Hawaii. In her early years, she and Joy played on bowling leagues. With the Italian heritage in her, she loved to cook, and she was great at it. She also enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, playing bingo and crocheting.

Yolanda was a member of St. Richard Catholic Church and prayed the Rosary devoutly every night before bed.

She will be greatly missed by her daughters, Michele (Robert) Raker-Morris, Debra (Greg) Stickley, and Ilene Raker; son, Rex Raker; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Sonya) Rulli; sister-in-law, Virginia Raker; brother-in-law, Lloyd (Barbara) Raker; special family friend, Ollie Franzman; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, Joy, Yolanda was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Joseph and Rudolph Rulli.

Graveside services at St. Richard's Cemetery will be private.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, American Heart Assoc., American Diabetes Assoc. or to a charity of the donor's choice.
