Winston L. Golden, age 70, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Monday morning, August 25, 2014, at Arbors of Waterville. He was born September 9, 1943 in Athens, Arkansas to William A. and Nancy Jane (Epperson) Golden. Winston served in the United States Army, 2nd Infantry Division, from 1960-1966. Following the service, Winston drove truck until his retirement.
Winston was an avid Nascar fan, and he and Marie loved attending the races at Oakshade Raceway.
Winston is survived by his devoted Fiancee, Marie McMurry; daughter-in-law, Teresa Golden; daughters, Terry Golden, Shirl Golden and Debbie Schultz; granddaughters, Jennifer "June Bug" Golden, Sheila and Kerry Wertz, and Alexis Schultz; brother, Marion (Wanda) Golden; nephews, Rick Golden, Mike Golden, Roger (Julie) Golden, Robert (Barb) Golden; and niece, Sandra (Jim) Hudson; as well as his stepchildren, Gayle (Tim) Vincent, Chuck Lowery, Mark Lowery, and Tim (Daisy) McMurry; 7 step-grandchildren and 5 great-step-grandchildren.
Winston was preceded in death by his parents, William and Nancy; son, Rickie Golden; brother, Billie Golden; and granddaughter, Kristen Schultz.
Visitation will be held Thursday, August 28th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton (419.826.2631). Funeral services will be held Friday, August 29th at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Donna Stutzman officiating. Interment, with Military Rites, will follow at South Swanton Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
