William James Flowers, age 86, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday afternoon, August 9, 2012, at the Elizabeth Scott Community in Maumee, Ohio. He was born June 2, 1926 in Leetonia, Ohio to the late William and Maggie (Given) Flowers. He married his beloved wife, Lucille Unsworth on July 27, 1955.
Bill served in the United States Air Force during WWII, and was one of the twelve initial members of the Ohio Air National Guard Base in Toledo. He retired as a Master Sergeant in 1984. He was a member of the Swanton American Legion Post #479.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Lucille; sons, William (Kim) Flowers and Scott (Kim) Flowers; daughter, Cheryl (Don) Weaver; grandchildren, Tyler (Jennifer) Flowers, Jenna (Adam) Keller, Brian, Jordan and Brett Flowers, Jeff Weaver, Donald (Tammy) Weaver and great-grandchildren, Scott, Anthony and Justin Weaver; and sisters, Olive Murray and Lois Reilly.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Ronald Graham Flowers and sisters Eileen Morrow and Katherine Kohler.
Friends and family may visit Monday, August 13th from 10:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. (Noon) at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, where funeral services will be begin at 12:00 p.m. (Noon), with Pastor Derrick Torrey officiating. Interment, with Military Rites, will follow at East Swanton Cemetery.
