William L. Birr (Bill), 62, Swanton, Ohio, has gone home to be with the Lord, succumbing to the symptoms of a rare disease called MSA on Saturday, December 7, 2024. Bill was born on August 7th, 1962 to William and Kathleen Birr. He grew up in Maumee, Ohio and was a graduate of Maumee High School and Owens Community College. He was raised Lutheran in his family's church, Bethel Lutheran in Toledo. He was a Marine Corps veteran and a member of the American Legion. Bill met his wife, Pam, in September 2017, and they built their house in Swanton, settling there in 2018.
Bill worked as an electrician until he became disabled in early 2018 with his disease. He was proud of his work and being a veteran. He spent lots of time with his wife, family and friends, loved live performances, driving on adventures in his truck, horses, firearms, and enjoyed music and TV. He loved to watch sports, especially the Detroit Lions and the Tigers, but would settle for watching the Bengals and the Browns. He also loved watching the Toledo Mudhens and the Toledo Rockets football. He was a force of a man, a proud Christian and will be missed by so many. Bill's life was surrounded by a large family between his and his wife's.
Bill is survived by his wife, Pam McFaddin-Birr and step-son, Jameson McFaddin; sisters Cheryl McClure (Herman) and Laura Brown (Pat), brother, Paul Weisser (Nikki); Aunt Shirley (JB); sisters and brothers-in-law: Stephanie (Ed), Mark (Fay), Katherine (D), Jean (Wayne); his cousin and best friend, Jim Birr (Donna); countless more cousins, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Bill is preceded in death by: Father, Bill and mother, Kathy; sister, Kit; brother in law, Ric; cousins, Bruce and Rick, many other relatives.
Bill’s life will be remembered with a visitation and celebration of life on Wednesday, December 11th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, with funeral services beginning at 12:00 (Noon), at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton. Burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
