Virginia I. Langenderfer

Virginia I. Langenderfer, age 94, of Swanton, Ohio, entered through the Gates of Heaven, early Friday morning, August 24, 2012 at Swanton Health Care & Retirement Center. She was born in Toledo, Ohio to the late Vincent and Mary Bishop. She married Victor J. Langenderfer on February 22, 1938, and he preceded her in death in November of 1997. She helped her husband run the farm and enjoyed gardening. She sold fruits and vegetables from their stand in front of their home, with melons being their specialty.

Virginia was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish at Marygrove and the Altar Rosary Society. She had the most fun in the wintertime working the church fish fries, where she was in charge of cooking the potatoes. She was a very crafty person – painting, knitting, and refinishing furniture. She also loved playing Pinochle and polka dancing.

Virginia is survived by her son, Victor R. (Marcia) Langenderfer of Toledo, OH, Susan Truckor of Swanton, OH; grandchildren, Gregory Langenderfer, Brian Langenderfer, Chad Truckor, Neal Truckor, and Kent Truckor; and great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Langenderfer.

Besides her husband, Victor J., she was preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard D. Langenderfer; son-in-law, Edward Truckor; infant brother, Clement; and sister, Clara.

Family and friends may visit Sunday, August 26th from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton, where a Scripture and Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m.. Visitation will continue Monday, August 27th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity (Immaculate Conception) Catholic Church at Marygrove, 1750 N. Raab Road, where a Mass of Resurrection will begin at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. Ron Schock officiating. Interment will follow at Marygrove Cemetery.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff at Swanton Health Care & Retirement Center for the loving care provided to Virginia.
