Virgil Isaac Bixler, age 88, of Swancreek Township, passed away Friday morning, January 11, 2008 at Swanton Health Care & Retirement Center. Virgil was born October 3, 1919 to the late Thomas and Mary (Morris) Bixler. He was a 1939 graduate of Delta High School. Virgil married Joanne Roberts on September 5, 1947, and she preceded him in death on January 5, 2003. He also was preceded in death by his brothers, Pison and Ephraim Bixler, and sisters, Alta Protsik and Daisy.

Virgil was a lifelong farmer and a faithful member of Shiloh Christian Union Church in Delta. He also was a lifetime member of the National Threshers Association and National Rifle Association.

Virgil is survived by his brother-in-law, Charlie Protsik and several nieces and nephews.

Friends and family may visit Sunday, January 13th from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton (419-826-2631). Funeral services will be held Monday, January 14th at 11:00 a.m. at Shiloh Christian Union Church with Pastor Chuck Whitmire officiating. Interment will follow at Swanton Cemetery.
