Violet M. (Gearig) Troesken, age 90, of Swanton, Ohio, entered into eternal life, Saturday morning, January 11, 2014 at Swanton Valley Center. She was born November 23, 1923 in Fulton County, Ohio to the late Marion and Mildred (Jacobs) Welch, and was a 1941 graduate of Swanton High School. Vi was a cook for the Swanton Local School District and retired from the Swanton Pharmacy.
She is survived by her son, Larry (Mary) Gearig of Swanton; grandchildren, Chad Gearig of Chicago, IL and Mindy Simmons of Redford, MI; great-grandchildren, Jason Simmons, Julianna Simmons and Katrina Meyers; sister, Josephine Berry of Sylvania, OH; sisters-in-law Donna Gearig of Swanton, OH, Helen Gearig of Holland, OH; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 1st husband, Lawrence Gearig, Sr.; 2nd husband, Francis Troesken; and sister, Virginia Gearig.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the special caregivers of Hospice of Northwest Ohio, as well as the wonderful staff at Swanton Valley.

Per Vi's wishes, her body was cremated. A Memorial Mass for her at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Grand Rapids will be held at a later date.
