Vincent M. Gillen

August 8, 1917 — March 22, 2013

Vincent M. Gillen, age 95, of Lyons, Ohio, entered into eternal life, Friday evening, March 22, 2013, at Fulton Manor in Wauseon. Vincent was born August 8, 1917 in rural Delta, Ohio to George and Della (Knapp) Gillen. He married Mary Jane Allen on October 2, 1937 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Assumption. She preceded him in death on December 7, 2007.

Vincent was very active in the community. He was a charter member of the 4-H Club in Assumption and was inducted into the Fulton County Agriculture Hall of Fame. He was a self-employed carpenter and worked on many projects throughout Fulton County. Vincent attended Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Lyons and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Assumption.

Vincent was the self proclaimed Mayor at Fulton Manor in Wauseon, where he resided the past 8 years. He participated in many of the activities, his favorite being the bus tours, where he was known as tour director.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Virginia (Alan) Schaffner of Fayette, OH and Marilyn (Woody) Blaylock of Lakeland, FL; son, Thomas (Concha) Gillen of Miami, FL; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Roseline Lumbrezer.

Besides his wife of 70 years, Mary Jane, Vincent was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margeurite Bernholtz; brothers, Glennis and Edward, and infant brother, Paul.

Family and friends may visit Wednesday, March 27, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Noon) at the Weigel Funeral Home, 413 E. Main St. in Metamora, Ohio, where the funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) with Deacon Joseph Repka officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Fulton Manor’s activity center, 723 S. Shoop Ave., Wauseon, OH 43567.

Visitation: Wednesday, March 27th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm (Noon) at the Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora

Funeral Service: Wednesday, March 27th at 12:00 pm (Noon) in the Funeral Home

Interment: Our Lady of Fatima Cemtery
