Victor Baranowski, affectionately known as Uncle Hutu, age 89, died unexpectedly, Saturday morning, December 28, 2013, in his West Park Place residence in Toledo. He was born December 23, 1924 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Anthony and Jadwiga (Szydlowski) Baranowski and was baptized at St. Hedwigs Catholic Church. Victor was a 1943 graduate of Swanton High School, and served in the U.S. Army postwar where he was stationed in Japan.
Victor was a member of St. Richard Catholic Parish in Swanton. He retired as an inspector with Libbey Owens Ford and had the opportunity to travel around the world. When he wasn’t working or traveling, he farmed on the family homestead where he once lived on Wilkins Road in Swanton.
Though he never married or had any children of his own, Victor is survived by many nieces and nephews of the Vasko and Baranowski families.
Special thank you to the nurses and aides of Senior Care Management and Drs. George Maly, Nader Zeitouni, and Robert Schmidt for the wonderful care they provided him.
