Vera May Hennings, age 94, of Delta, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Sunday evening, November 21, 2010 at Swanton Health Care & Retirement Center. She was born September 27, 1916 in Tontogany, Ohio to Allen and Bertha (Fisher) Daniels. She was a 1934 graduate of Grand Rapids High School. On her 21st birthday, September 27, 1937, she married George Hennings. Together they shared 59 years of marriage until his death on July 3, 1997.

Vera and her husband owned and operated Hennings Greenhouse and Nursery on Airport Highway in Swanton Township for over 37 years, retiring in 1982. She was an active member of Wilkins United Methodist Church and enjoyed gardening and crocheting. Vera also had a love for animals; especially cats.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, John (Laura) Hennings of Eureka, CA, Jane (Robert) Merrill of Brooklyn, OH, and Nancy (George) Quay of Stow, OH; grandchildren, Janet (Robert) Shubert, Joyce Merrill, Jeremy Quay, Erica Quay, and Colby Burns; and great-grandchildren, Catherine, Alexander, and Christian Shubert.

Besides her husband George, Vera was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Dwight Daniels, Mary Hoar, Eudora Falkenberg, William Daniels, Elva Jean Tilton and Estell Daniels.

Friends and family may visit Wednesday, December 1st from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419.826.2631). Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 2nd at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Daniel Schilling officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Grand Rapids, Ohio.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wilkins United Methodist Church or Henry County Humane Society.
