Velda Louise Seger

Velda Louise Seger, age 95, of Berkey, Ohio, passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 29, 2025 at Flower Hospital. Velda was born November 11, 1929 in Whiteford Township, Michigan to Frederick and Clara (Bollinger) Schmidt. 

Velda worked as a clerk for Bargain City in Toledo for 27 years. She loved being in the sun and considered herself a sun worshiper. Velda enjoyed gardening and yardwork, she mowed her own grass well into her 80's. She always planted a big garden in her yard every year. Most of all, she loved her family, she was a good mom and had a heart full of gold.

Velda is survived by her daughter, Joyce Seger; son, Lee (Cheryl) Seger; sisters, Mary Seger and Janet Mae; brothers, Norman Schmidt and Arnold (Joyce) Schmidt; grandchildren, Brian (Tina) Seger, Lee Bracey, and Jeremy Vandenbroek; and great grandchildren, Aiden Vandenbroek, Brendan Vandenbroek and Mason Vandenbroek.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Seger; her son, Alan Seger; brothers, Lawrence Schmidt and Raymond Schmidt; sister, Donna Eighmy and granddaughter, Jodi Vandenbroek.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 7th, 2025 from 12:00 p.m.to 2:00 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, Metamora, Ohio, where funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor David Vinciquerra officiating. Interment will follow at Whiteford Union Cemetery.
