Thomas Joel Pilliod, age 74, longtime Swanton, Ohio resident, died unexpectedly Monday, May 25, 2009, at his Ft. Myers, Florida home. He was born November 6, 1934 in Toledo, Ohio to Thomas Joseph and Kathryn (Liedel) Pilliod. He married Sally Wilder on November 18, 1961.

Tom worked 27 years at the family business, The Pilliod Cabinet Company. He retired March 19, 1985. In his younger years, Tom was an avid Cub Scout. He was a member of St. Richard Catholic Parish in Swanton and St. Columbkille Catholic Parish in Ft. Myers, Florida. He also was a 15-year member of the Swanton Volunteer Fire Department. His hobbies included needlepoint, which he would frame and hand out to friends and family, as well as computer gaming.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Sally; sons, Richard J. (Sandy) Pilliod of Winchester, VA and Thomas M. (Geri) Pilliod of Cape Coral, FL; step grandchildren, Amber Watson of Virginia Beach, VA, Daniel Jackson of Florida and Steven Jackson of Punta Gorda, FL; as well as many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Emma Pruden and Frances Geraldine Rousseau; brother, George Pilliod, and nephews Peter and Thomas Rousseau.

Friends and family may visit Sunday, May 31st from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, where a Scripture service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Prayers will begin in the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 1st, followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 10:30 a.m. at St. Richard Catholic Church. Fr. Daniel J. Zak will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Richard’s Cemetery.
