Thomas Patrick Harper, age 67, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away Monday morning, February 6, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 25, 1944 in Cleveland, Ohio to Raymond and Matilda (Edinger) Harper. Tom graduated from Anthony Wayne High School and joined the U.S. Marine Corp serving in Vietnam. On June 30, 1987, he married Jeanne Schwieterman.
Tom was an avid Michigan Wolverine fan. He also loved watching his favorite Nascar drivers Bill Elliot and Kasey Kahne. He enjoyed racing stock cars, riding his Harley, playing pool, and dancing.
He was a member of the Swanton American Legion Post #479 and life- member and past-president of the Amvets.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Jeanne; children, Judy (Rob) Foltz, Tanya (Larry) LeVeck, Terre Van Meter, Tracy Van Meter, Ed Quaintance, Jason Harper, Teresa Stewart, and James Milton; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and sister, Rosemary Krainz.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Raymond; sister, Zebalee; and grandson, Ryan LeVeck.
Friends and family may visit Thursday, February 9th from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 10th at 11:00 a.m. in the Funeral Home with Deacon Timothy R. Worline officiating. Interment, with Military Rites, will follow at South Swanton Cemetery.
