Sylvia B. Kreuz

Mass of Ressurrection: Friday, June 29th at 11:00 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Assumption

Sylvia B. Kreuz, age 80, of Metamora died June 25, 2012. She was born on November 27, 1931 to the late Ambrose & Irene Herr. Sylvia was very active in her church and community. She was the pioneer of the physical education program at St. Mary's School in Assumption between 1963-1975, as well as initiated the Five School Track Meet event for 20 years. Sylvia served as a Sunday preschool teacher/coordinator and also helped establish the Kindergarten program in 1983; other programs she was involved in include cafeteria manager and Auxiliary Service Program clerk.

She was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church where she was an active Altar Rosary member and officer for many years. Sylvia enjoyed being a song leader, choir member, and spent many hours in the beautification of the church grounds. Sylvia's love for the Fulton County fair brought her great pleasure and many blue ribbons. She served as chairwoman of the Fulton County Farm Bureau and was the presiding judge on the Amboy Township election board for over 25 years. As a lifelong farmer, she enjoyed growing and harvesting a variety of fruits and vegetables. She loved hiring numerous neighborhood youths for summer employment.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husbad of 58 years Raymond; children, Larry (Tina), Gary (Nancy), Donna (Mark) Farnsel, Amy (Tony) Silvestri, Nancy (Todd) Carter and Mary Jo (Joe) Fischer;24 grandchildren, Joe Kreuz, Kari Kreuz, Ed Farnsel, Jacob Kreuz, Jared Kreuz, Curtis Farnsel, Doug Kreuz, Alex Kreuz, Laura Dibert, Arthur Silvestri, Josh Fischer, Brian Kreuz, Antoinette Silvestri, Matt Fischer, Michael Fischer, Kate Carter, Mary Silvestri, Annie Carter, Mildred Silvestri, Amy Silvestri, Raymond Silvestri, John Silvestri, Cecilia Silvestri, and Gina Silvestri; and 4 great grandchildren, Hannah Kreuz, Tyler Kreuz, Aiden Kreuz, and Breyden Kreuz; siblings, Mary Ann (Carl) Pinkelman, Regina (Orville) Miller, Tom (Lynn) Herr, Cecilia (John) Mattimoe, Cathy Herr and the late Tony Herr.

Family and friends may visit Thursday, June 28th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora, Ohio, where a Rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 29th at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Assumption, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the Mass. Fr. Ron Schock will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity School Endowment Fund or the Fulton County MRDD.
