Stella Ann Jewell

Stella Ann Jewell, age 79, of Swanton, Ohio, was reunited in heaven with her soul-mate of 57 years, Stanley Jewell, Thursday evening, September 18, 2014. She was born October 9, 1934 in Swanton, Ohio to Frank and

Sophie Smigelski. She was a 1952 graduate of Anthony Wayne High School, and married Stanley Jewell on May 18, 1957.

Stella worked for the Swanton Cable and Wire Company and raised four children. She was a member of St. Richard Catholic Parish, and was devoted to her Catholic faith by praying the Rosary daily. She was also proud of her Polish heritage. She will be remembered for her wonderful baking, sewing and crocheting accomplishments. These traits have been passed on to her children. Stella enjoyed the simple things in life. Whether it be sitting in her chair crocheting and watching her favorite soap operas, making homemade strawberry jam and canning vegetables picked from Stanley's garden, or even flower gardening. She enjoyed them all.

Most of all, Stella cherished her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her children, Sue (Mike) Hopkins, David Jewell, Sharon (Bob) Lumbrezer and Michael (Jennifer) Jewell; 8 grandchildren, Christopher (Melissa), Scott (Erin), Brent, Brian, Taylor, Hannah, and twins, Sophie and Sarah; soon to be born great-grandson; as well as her sister, Mary Bergeon; sister-in-law, Violet Kinkaid; brother-in-law, Robert Jewell; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband Stanley, Stella was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Andrew Jewell; and brothers, Ted and Ron Smigelski.

Family and friends may visit Monday, September 22nd from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, where the recitation of the Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Tuesday, September 23rd from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at St. Richard’s Catholic Church, where a Mass of Resurrection will begin at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Robert Holden presiding and Deacon Jerry Ziemkiewicz assisting. Interment will follow at St. Richard’s Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Richard's Catholic Church.

Mass of Resurrection: Tuesday, September 23rd at 10:30 am at St. Richard Catholic Church
