On Saturday, August 30, 2014, the Lord received His good and faithful servant, Shirley L. Hill, at the age of 82. She was born April 18, 1932 to Ray, Sr. and Sylvia (Shipman) Osterhout, who preceded her in death along with an infant sister, Mary Louise.
In 1950, she graduated from Delta High School, and went on to obtain her license from Warner College Beauty Culture of Toledo, and worked as a beautician for many years. She also worked at the Wauseon Wire Factory. Shirley was known as a wonderful baker, creating cakes for many weddings and special occasions. Shirley was a long-time member of Antioch Apostolic Church in Toledo.
In 1954, she married the love of her life, Adelbert Hill. On June 5th, they celebrated 60 years of marriage together. Besides her husband, Adelbert, Shirley is survived by her brothers, Ray, Jr. (June) Osterhout of Swanton, OH and Bill (Choddy) Osterhout of Wauseon, OH; daughters, Joylanda (Jim) Fleming of Casper, WY, Tamyra (Larry) Knepper of Napoleon, OH, and Cynthia Hill of Perrysburg, OH; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; lifelong friend, Joyce Crozier, and Joan Jadzinski, a friend who was loved like a daughter.
Family and friends may visit Thursday, September 4th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton (419.826.2631). Funeral services celebrating Shirley's life will be held Friday, September 5th at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home, with Pastor Derrick Torrey officiating. Interment will follow at Swanton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Antioch Apostolic Church, 828 Rall Rd., Toledo, OH 43617 c/o the building fund.
