Shirley Dennis

Shirley Dennis, age 79, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, August 5, 2014, while vacationing in Homer, Michigan. She was born June 13, 1935 in Swanton, Ohio to Dean and Elvira (Keiger) Chamberlain, and was a 1954 graduate of Libbey High School. On June 19, 1954, she married Wayne Dennis.

Shirley worked as a waitress at Woolworth's. She was a member of Providence Lutheran Church where she sang in the church choir. She and Wayne loved square dancing, participating in Civil War and WWII Reenactments, camping, traveling to Arizona, antiquing, and flower gardening.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 60 years, Wayne; son, Michael (Masako) Dennis; daughter, Sally Bridge; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas (Darla) Chamberlain; sister, Rebecca (Robert) Shepherd; as well as several nieces and nephews, and her cat, Mr. Sterling.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Nancy Jones; and brothers, Dean Jr. and Donald Chamberlain.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 8th from 3 to 7 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419.826.2631). Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 9th at 10:00 am in the funeral home, with Pastor Dennis King officiating. Interment will follow at Springfield Township Cemetery.
