Sharon L. Lakatos, age 69, of Sand Creek, Michigan, died on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Hospice of Lenawee, after a valiant battle with kidney disease (calciphylaxis). She was born January 20, 1945 in Toledo, Ohio to John and Donna (Kisseberth) Borland.
Sharon loved life and was always active. Sharon's faith was important to her and was evident through attendance at church, Sunday school and Bible studies. Sharon enjoyed giving back to others and volunteered as a driver for the Dept. of Human Services; was a parent aide for Catholic Charities; a Big Sister for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lenawee and member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She played bunco and cards, but her love was traveling. (Trips with the family-from weekend camping trips and hiking, to traveling across across the states.)
Sharon followed her children and grandchildren in school activities, sports and church. She was an avid Sand Creek Aggies fan. She was never too tired to play games or make projects/crafts with the children.
Holidays were special and she would decorate her home to celebrate; always providing a warm welcome with delicious homemade treats.
She was a homemaker first-loving to cook and bake, but had been employed at Peters Stamping in Fayette, OH as a forklift operator and Catholic Charities as a Youth Companion.
Sharon is survived by her husband, John P. Lakatos; her mother, Donna Borland of Lyons, OH; her father-in-law, John of Sand Creek; sister-in-law, Mary (Larry) Spurgeon of Albertville, AL; three daughters, Lisa (Rabbit) Richmond of Lake Wales, FL; Trisa (Mark) Iffland of Palmyra; and Kristy (Manuel) Gonzalez of Adrian; five grandchildren, Kirsten Tripp of Florida; Julia and Juan Gonzalez of Adrian; and Mattea and Preston Iffland of Palmyra; four sisters, Linda (Steve) Boger of Lyons, OH; Judy (Tom) Trumper of Fort Bragg, CA; Barbara (Augie) Steiner-Zehender of Morenci, MI; and Diane (Austin) Seidel of Wauseon, OH; great-great aunt, Dorothy (George) Gunderman of Blissfield; aunts, Rita Pompili and Nancy Cole of Toledo, OH; best friend forever, Kathye (Doug) Herrera of Morenci; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Sharon was preceded in death by her father, John; and three brothers, Johnny, Bob and Roger.
