Shamenn Mounsey

November 9, 1983 — May 4, 2015

Shamenn Mounsey, a vivacious, free-spirited, and bright young woman, age 31, of Crystal Lake, Illinois, passed away Monday morning, May 4, 2015, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident that occurred in Defiance, Ohio, while she was visiting friends. Shamenn was born November 9, 1983 in Bryan, Ohio to Sally (Mekus) Mounsey.

Shamenn was a 2001 graduate of Fairview High School and attended Northwest State Community College. While attending Fairview, she was a star athlete; excelling in volleyball, basketball, and softball. She even played on a travel team softball league that went so far as to participate in the World Series.

Shamenn worked as a sales representative for AT&T and was well respected by her co-workers and peers. She had a direct influence on changing many lives with her positive attitude and being such a good friend and person. She will be remembered for her love of life and infectious laugh.

Shamenn enjoyed traveling and reading, but most of all, loved spending time with her brothers and sisters, and nieces and nephews.

She will be greatly missed and forever remembered by her mother, Sally Mounsey; father Gerald Mounsey; siblings, John Mounsey, Rachelle Mounsey, Tiffany (Kurtis) Sickle, Alex (Samantha) Mounsey, and Alyse (Artur) Chernoval; half-sister, Julane Tadson; very special nephews and nieces, Bently Mounsey, Karter and Willow Sickle, Ryan and Emerick Mounsey, and Laila and Lilly Chernoval; as well as her maternal grandparents, Nolan and Glenna Mekus; paternal grandfather, Wayne Mounsey; and several aunts; uncles; and cousins.

Shamenn was preceded in death by her uncle, Jeff Emahiser.

Family and friends may visit Friday, May 8th from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419.826.2631), where the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Saturday, May 9th from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Richard Catholic Church, where a Mass of Resurrection will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Robert Holden presiding and Deacon Jerry Ziemkiewicz assisting. Interment will follow at St. Richard’s Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Visitation: Friday, May 8th from 2 to 8 pm at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton

Mass of Resurrection: Saturday, May 9th at 11:00 am at St. Richard Catholic Church

Interment: St. Richard's Cemetery
