Scott Clayton Thie, age 58, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away Monday morning, September 20, 2010, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He was born July 12, 1952 in Toledo, Ohio, to James Clayton and Marilyn (Swert) Thie. He graduated from Woodmore High School in 1970. Scott worked at Johnson Controls, retiring in January of 2005.

Scott was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Cleveland Browns. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards, having campfires, watching sports on television, and being with family and friends.

Scott is survived by his mother, Marilyn Bartaldo, of Toledo, OH; brother, Robert (Linda) Thie, of VA; sister, Linda (Arny) Elton of Whitehouse, OH; children, Chris (Kim) Thie, of Sylvania, OH, Sarah (Brian) Kaestner, of Whitehouse, OH, Jenifer (Jim) Eitniear, of Swanton, OH, and Ashley Thie (Bob Lammon), of Wauseon, OH; 8 grandchildren, Catherine, Kailey, Cole, Camryn, Quinn, Morgan, Madisynn, and McKenzyee; best friends, Moby and Bob, and Sandy Ruch; former wife and friend, Rita Thie; and several aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Thie; stepfather, Anthony Bartaldo; grandmother, Mable Vrotsos; and granddaughter, Faith Hope Eitniear.

The family would like to thank Scott’s team of doctors from The University of Toledo Medical Center; his home visiting nurse from Promedica Home Health, Nadine; his home visiting nurse from Hospice, Suzanne; and all the staff from the Perrysburg Hospice facility.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Family and friends may visit Wednesday, September 22nd, from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton, where services will be held at 7:00 p.m.
