Sara Jane Schwartzwalder, age 84 of Delta, Ohio, a devoted homemaker and an adored matriarch, was born on March 5, 1940, in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Munnis and Margaret (Purefield) Kenny. She left this world peacefully Monday evening November 4, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at the Manor at Perrysburg.
Sara's love for her family was immeasurable. She married her beloved husband on May 6, 1961, their bond was a testament to enduring love. Richard sadly passed away on October 16, 2019. Sara found joy in the simple moments, creating a warm and nurturing home filled with laughter, love, and the delicious aromas from her kitchen.
Graduating from Dexter High School in Michigan, Sara carried with her a spirit of kindness that touched everyone she met. Her joyful laugh and infectious smile were the heartbeats of every gathering. An avid supporter of her grandkids, she never missed a chance to cheer them on at their sporting and school events, beaming with pride at each accomplishment. Her grandkids—Jeremy (Wendy) Skates, Adam (Libby) Skates, Cory (Jessica) Skates, Ashley (Marty) Peltcs, and Erin (Erik) Thomas—will forever cherish the beautiful memories they created with her.
Sara was also a beloved great-grandmother, doting on Dane, Myla, Gwen, Henry, Sam, Sawyer, Archer, Quinn, and Scarlett, who filled her life with immeasurable joy. Family gatherings were a cherished pastime. Sara loved spending time with family, often enjoying trips to the Twist-T-Freeze in Delta, playing board games, baking buckeyes and caramels, but above all being with the ones she loved most. Her warm embrace and unconditional love she gave to others will be profoundly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She is survived by her daughters, Beth (Richard) Skates and Linda (Steve) Griffin, who carry forward her legacy of kindness and love. While Sara's parents and sister, Janice Keogh, have preceded her in death, her spirit remains alive in the hearts of all she touched.
As we bid farewell to our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, we remember her for her bright smile, kind heart, and love that she wove throughout her life. Her embrace may be gone, but her warmth and kindness will echo in our hearts forever.
A private family graveside service will be held at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
