Ruth Baranowski

Ruth Baranowski, age 90, of Fayette, Ohio; formerly of Swanton, Ohio, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo . She was born October 28, 1924 in Monroeville, Indiana, to the late Clifford and Ethel (Girardot) Cully. She married Sylvester Baranowski in 1952, and he preceded her in death on May 18, 1979.

Ruth worked as a nurses aid at the Franciscan Care Center and retired at the age of 86 as the activities director's assistant. She was a workaholic and enjoyed crocheting afghans and doilies.

Ruth is survived by her children, Dennis Schwartz, Karen Carter, Louis "Butch" (Shirley) Schwartz, Rebecca (Robert) Faylor, Rodney Baranowski, Theodore (Kim) Baranowski, Stanley (Joyce) Baranowski, Betsy Baranowski and David Baranowski; 22 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, Sylvester, Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Kenny and Charles Schwartz; infant daughter, Denice Marie; and significant other, Bill Van Dyke.

Family and friends may visit Friday, February 27th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419.826.2631). Visitation will continue Saturday, February 28th from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the funeral home, where services celebrating her life will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ed Strietelmeier officiating. Interment will be held at a later date at Restlawn Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the Franciscan Care Center Activities Fund.
