Rosann Phyllis Gerdeman

January 19, 1933 — December 22, 2014

Rosann Phyllis (Tack) Gerdeman, age 81, of Toledo, Ohio, entered into eternal peace surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Monday afternoon, December 22, 2014, at Ebeid Hospice Residence in Sylvania. She was born January 19, 1933 in Berkey, Ohio.

Rosann was welcomed into Heaven by her parents, George Sr. and Marian (Miller) Tack; her brother George Jr. and sister-in-law, Jane (Marvin) Tack; and her first born son, Terry George Gerdeman.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Norbert A. Gerdeman; her children, William Gerdeman, Cynthia Brick, Rosann M. Gerdeman, Jane (Dan) Eller, Barbara (Bill) Gasche, Susan (Doug) Etchison, Paula (Tom) Sampson, Denise (Keith) Greene, John (Jill) Gerdeman, and David (Melanie) Gerdeman; 23 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Rosann graduated from Metamora High School in 1951, where she was a cheerleader, majorette, played saxophone in the band, and performed acrobatics with the Golden Rhythm Girls. Her favorite job was in customer service with J.C. Penny Catalog Department, because she had such a friendly and outgoing spirit.

Rosann was a devoted mother and wife, and was involved in many social clubs, including the Democratic Ladies Society, Catholic Ladies of Columbia, Parent Teacher Organizations, and Rosary-Altar Society.

Music and dancing were a very important part of Roann's life; she called square dances, was an advisor for Swanton High School Spirit Kickers, and also taught line dancing at her retirement community in Florida.

Rosann had such a warm and inviting personality. She would light up a room when she walked in, and could brighten up your darkest day. She had a wonderful sense of humor and always had a funny story or joke to tell whenever you were with her.

The family would like to thank the Ebeid Hospice Residence at Flower Hospital, as well as the wonderful care team at UTMC Cardiac ICU.

Family and friends may visit Friday, December 26th from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419.826.2631), where the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Prayers will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home, Saturday, December 27th, followed by a Mass of Resurrection beginning at 10:30 a.m. at St. Richard Catholic Church, with Fr.
