Roger Dale Quay, age 54, of Whitehouse, Ohio, passed away following a brief illness, Saturday, June 25, 2011, at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was born September 27, 1956 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Ralph Ellis and Rachel Marie (Hawkins) Quay. On January 11, 1986, he married his loving wife, Patricia Steffen. Roger worked at Seagate Plastics in Waterville as a shipping and receiving manager.
Roger was an avid bowler. Past memberships included the PBA and NWOTBA. His name appears in the National Bowling Hall of Fame and Museum due to bowling five 300 games throughout his lifetime. Besides bowling, he enjoyed golfing, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Patricia; stepchildren, Roxanne (Michael) Mollod, Michelle Sandfoss, and Dawn (Brad) Burdue; grandchildren, Joei, Luke, Abby, Alexa, and Eric; siblings, Mary (Stephen) Gregg, Suzanne (Ron) Sauer, Dorothy (James) Thompson, George (Nancy) Quay, Janet (Thomas) Turner, Carol (Robert) Schaefer; and favorite feline, Ashley.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents; stepdaughter, Danette Sandfoss; and mother-in-law, Frances Stallard.
Family and friends may visit Friday, July 1st from 2 to 6:30 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419.826.2631), where a memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. with Pastor Russell Merrin officiating. Interment will follow at a later date.
