Robert Dean Wentz

Robert Dean Wentz, age 84, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away Saturday morning, December 9, 2023 in the emergency room at the Fulton County Health Center in Wauseon, Ohio.  He was born May 28, 1939 in Wauseon, Ohio to Ivan Lee and Florence Louise (Goldsmith) Wentz.  Robert married Nancy Prather on December 22, 1962. She preceded him in death on January 25, 2003.

Robert worked in tool design for 20 years at Teledyne, and was a long-time member of the Swanton Church of the Nazarene.  Robert looked forward to a delicious breakfast at the Wing’s Station and the best shrimp dinner at the Mail Pouch.  Don’t forget the dessert! He got his sweet tooth from his mother. 

Robert grew up on State Route 108, down the road from the Fulton County Fairgrounds. He loved anything to do with farming.  He looked forward to attending the annual Fulton County Fair and the Tractor Pulls. Robert was also an avid Detroit Tigers and Toledo Mud Hens Fan. He loved playing Aggravation and proud of his title as Aggravation Champ. Most of all, Robert loved being around his family. 

He will be missed by his children, Sandy (Tim) Judson, Steve Wentz and Suann (Luke) Dominique; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Tom (Pat) Wentz; 1 niece, 1 nephew and several cousins. 

Besides his loving wife of 41 years, Nancy, he was preceded in death by his parents and great-granddaughter, Tinley Faith.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 13th from  4 to 7 pm at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton. Visitation will continue Thursday, December 14th from 10:30 am to 11:00 am in the funeral home, where services will begin at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Swanton Cemetery.

The family extends a heartfelt Thank You to the nurses and staff at Embassy of Swanton for the compassionate care they provided Robert.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fulton County Fair or the Swanton Nazarene Church.
