Robert George Green, age 81, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family, Thursday morning, October 9, 2008. He was born June 11, 1927 in Swanton, Ohio to Clarence and Lena (Klor) Green. Robert served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during the Korean War. On April 16, 1955, he married Margaret Billings.
Robert was a carpenter and a farmer. He enjoyed working with his hands and tinkering with machines. He also took great pride in his flowers. Robert was a very dedicated Christian, husband, father and grandfather. He was known to have read the Bible from cover to cover several times.
Robert was a faithful member of the Neapolis Church of Christ. He was a 50-year member of Carpenter’s Union Local 248 and served as Swancreek Township Trustee.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Margaret; children, Robin (Thomas) Tuckerman, Wesley (Gloria) Green and Ruth Coburn; as well as 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Helen Wines and brother, William Green.
Friends and family may visit Saturday, October 11th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 12th at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home, with Pastor Tom Bates officiating. Interment will follow at Raker Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Neapolis Church of Christ or Hospice of Williams & Fulton Counties.
