Robert James Geer, age 85, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away Sunday morning, November 2, 2008, at The Manor at Perrysburg. He was born May 5, 1923 in Swanton, at the home his grandfather built, to Blaine and Jeannie (Griffin) Geer.

On September 4, 1942, he married Betty Jane Grace Bundy. She preceded him in death on March 4, 2008. Robert worked at Baker Valve Gear, Champion Spark Plug, Pure Oil Co. – which became Unocal – retiring in 1986. He held his stationary engineers license for 50 years.

A faithful servant to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Robert went on several church-building missions to Mexico in his retirement years.

Robert is survived by his daughters, Priscilla (David) Thomas and Melissa (Dan) Furney; grandchildren, Dan Patterson, Don Patterson, Michelle (David) Nixon, Marianne (Keith) Myers, Darrell (Beth) Patterson, Brett Thomas, Hannah Furney; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Naomi, Will, and Eli Nixon, Zachary and Andrew Myers, and Tyler, Travis, Trenton, Trista, and Tryna Patterson; sister-in-law, Imogene Geer; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Besides his beloved wife, Betty, Robert was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Christine Kay Patterson, and brother, Howard Geer.

Friends and family may visit Tuesday, November 4th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 5th at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home, with Rev. James Nixon officiating. Interment will follow at Swanton Cemetery.
