Richard I. Welter, age 64, of Bluffton, Indiana; formerly of Swanton, Ohio, passed away Monday evening, January 4, 2010, at Bluffton Regional Hospital. He was born June 26, 1945 in Toledo, Ohio to Jacob and Esther (Langenderfer) Welter. Richard farmed since an early age, and kept busy repairing lawn equipment. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish in Bluffton.

He is survived by his sister, Carol (Dave) Zenk, of Bluffton, IN; brother, Charles (Darlene) Welter of York, PA; and nieces, Courtney Welter, Jessica Welter, and Ashley (Jay) Junkin; as well as his faithful, four-legged companion, Jethro.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother; and sister-in-law, Judy Welter.

A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Assumption, with Fr. Ron Schock officiating.
