Richard Wayne Long

Richard Wayne Long, age 74, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, July 10, 2015 at St. Luke's Hospital in Maumee, with his loving family at his side. He was born January 16, 1941 in Toledo, Ohio to Harry Charles and Eleanor (Luschen) Long. He served in the U.S. Air Force. In November 1963 he married Carole Claborne.

He worked as a plumber for Honeywell / Local 50 for 25 years. He then ran his own company, Building Controls Service for 10 years. Richard was a member of the Swanton Lions Club and a lifetime member of the National Street Rod Association. He enjoyed traveling and loved building cars.

Richard is survived by his loving children, Steven (Jody) Long, Mike (Deanna) Long, Daniel Long (Darlene Strause) and Laurie (Justin) Daniels; brother, Don Long; sisters, Marilyn (Phil) Neill and Nancy Long; 8 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Carole.

Family and friends may visit Wednesday, July 15th from 4-8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton (419.826.2631). According to his wishes there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Swanton Lions Club.
