Mass of Ressurrection: Friday, July 6th at 12:00 (Noon) at the church
Richard George Finfera, age 94, of Wauseon, Ohio, entered through the Gates of Heaven, Sunday morning, July 1, 2012, at Swanton Health Care & Retirement Center. He was born October 24, 1917 in Maple Grove Township, Michigan to Vador and Marie (Sedlar) Finfera. He married his wife of over 50 years, Mary Elizabeth Dierkens, and she preceded him in death on December 29, 2007.
Richard was a farmer and will be remembered for his meticulous record keeping. He farmed the homestead in Lyons, Ohio, and later developed the farmland into a subdivision on County Road 11-2, and moved to Wauseon.
Richard was a member of the former Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and present member of St. Caspar’s Parish and Lyons VFW Post #7574. He enjoyed pitching horseshoes, spending time at the cottage on Devil’s lake, traveling to Florida, playing cards, and listening to the Morader’s Band.
Richard is survived by his daughter-in-law, Becky Finfera; grandsons, Jason Finfera, Bryan (Michelle) Finfera, and Aaron (Rebecca) Finfera; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Jade, Jessica, Lilly, and Leona Finfera.
Besides his wife, Mary, Richard was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Rudy and Roger Finfera; and brothers, James, Joe, and Laddie Finfera.
Family and friends may visit Friday, July 6th from 11:00 am to 12 (Noon) at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Assumption. A Mass of Resurrection will begin at 12:00 (Noon) with Fr. Ron Schock officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery in Lyons.
