Rene A Victor, 83, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 in the hospital in Hudson, Florida. He was born August 21st 1930 in Toledo Ohio to Julius and Rachel (Vereeke) Victor.
He married Midge Goldsmith Victor and they shared three children, Pam (Carl) Spadafore of Wauseon, Sam (Patrice) Victor of Maumee, and Dan Victor of Fort Meyers, Florida. Also surviving to cherish his beloved memory is his devoted life partner of many years, Carol Decker. Rene is also survived by twelve grandchildren and blessed with eleven great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Marie Gallant.
He was a life long resident of Lyons Ohio, farming most of his life. He grew tomatoes for many years, receiving top grower from The Campbell Soup Company. Rene was an avid sports lover who played semi pro baseball in his early years, even managing his own softball team for many years, and bowled on several all star teams. He enjoyed watching all of his grandchildren at there many sporting events. He loved to play cards of any kind, and did that on almost a daily basis. He was also a former member of the Wauseon Elks Club. In his retirement he and Carol were able to share and enjoy their families, Florida, and traveling.
Visitation will be held at the Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora, Ohio from 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18th, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday December 19th. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Assumption.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
