Regina M. Vasko, age 59, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday August 21, 2010. She was born October 5, 1950 to Alfred and Frances (Baranowski) Vasko in Toledo, Ohio. Regina graduated from Siena Heights University in Adrian. She worked for Seaway-Riser in the accounting department in Cleveland for many years. She then returned to Toledo and recently retired from the IBC Corporation. Regina devoted her time as a vigilant advocate for expectant teen mothers.

Regina was a member of St. Richard Catholic Parish, Little Flower Catholic Parish, and past board member of Our Lady of Toledo Shrine. She had a passion for cooking, traveling, pita chips from Monnette’s, and doting on her relatives. Her biggest passion in life was bird watching - she had a great fondness for her patio birds and had always hoped to go on a great quest to find the ivory-billed woodpecker. Regina enjoyed stamp collecting and was a carousel horse enthusiast - even though she didn’t collect them she wanted to know everything there was to know about the carousel horses.

Regina is survived by her siblings, Fr. Christopher Vasko of Toledo, OH, Gregory (Colleen) Vasko of Sweetwater, TN, Helen (Chuck) Yensz of Temperance, MI, Carla (John) Wesley of Roswell, NM, and Martin Vasko of Oakridge, TN; uncle, Victor Baranowski; aunt, Louise “Vasko” (Fred) Blanchard; nieces and nephews, Christine Jenne, Van and Tony Vasko, and Robby and Julie Yensz; great-grand nephew and niece, Jordon Isley and Jayden Jenne.

Regina was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Richard Vasko.

Friends and family may visit Thursday, August 26th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419-826-2631), where the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Resurrection will be offered Friday August 27th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Richard Catholic Church, 333 Brookside Dr. in Swanton, with her brother, Fr. Christopher Vasko officiating. Interment will follow at St. Richard’s Cemetery.
