Raymond M. Ronau

Raymond Ronau, age 96, of Berkey, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Tuesday morning, December 17, 2013. He was born December 2, 1917 in Maumee, Ohio to Nickolas and Anna (Boelner) Ronau. Ray married Rosemary Buckenmeyer on September 15, 1945. She preceded him in death on November 2, 2009. Together they raised four boys.

Ray was a life long farmer and worked construction. He also enjoyed woodworking. Ray had a passion for hunting and fishing. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren telling them stories and teaching them how to fish.

Ray is survived by his sons, Gerald (Debra), Owen (Suzanne), Doug (Kim), and Doyle Ronau; grandchildren, Nicole (Joe) Barkhimer, Jason (Stephanie) Ronau, Tara (Cory) Cline, Amanda (Jake) Sattler, Jessica (Patrick) Murray, Andrew (Elizabeth) Ronau, and Alicia Ronau; great-grandchildren, Damien and Isabella Barkhimer, Brody, Gavin, and baby Oliver Ronau; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Ronau

Besides his wife, Rosemary, Ray is preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Eric Ronau; brothers, Frank and Don Ronau; sisters, Meg Restle, Virginia Dohr, Lauretta Simonett, Agnes Malburg, and Regina Raab.

Friends and family may visit Thursday, December 19th from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Prayers will begin in the funeral home Friday, December 20th at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (Immaculate Conception) at Marygrove, 1750 N. Raab Road. Fr. Michael Dandurand will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Richfield Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the maintenance fund for Marygrove Church.

Mass of Resurrection: Friday, December 20th at 10:30 am at Holy Trinity (Immaculate Conception) Catholic Church at Marygrove
