Ralph John Schmitz, age 84,of Wauseon, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at Heartland of Wauseon. He was born on October 17, 1925, in Metamora, Ohio, to Leo and Veronica (Snyder) Schmitz. Ralph was always a dreamer and he tried to make his dreams into reality. He farmed all his life and enjoyed it. He was an accomplished poet. His poetry was published with the National Poet Society.

Ralph is survived by his daughters, Teresa (Wilbur) Garner of Berkey, OH and Veronica (James) Mann of Nashua, IA; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings, Jean Prescot of Florida, Sonny (Lois) Schmitz of Wauseon, OH, Florence Ruple of Swanton, OH, Bill (Mona) Schmitz of Lyons, OH, Camila Cleghorn of California, and Tom Schmitz of Swanton, Ohio.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Suzanne Hubble and Patricia Willson.

Friends and family may visit Friday, November 27th from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 413 E. Main St. in Metamora, Ohio, where funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Ron Schock will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Assumption.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
