Born September 24, 1921, to Hereford and Ruth Kern in Delaware, OH, she was the oldest of four children, Eugene Kern of Redlands, CA, Georgiana Bargdill and James Kern of Delaware, OH who preceded her.

She married Stanley Bricker, of Prospect, OH, on Jan 12, 1946 in Nevada, OH, who passed away in 2006, and had a son, Steven of Dayton, OH, and daughter Carolyn Kahl of Swanton, OH. She had eight grand/step-grandchildren and 29 great grand/step-grandchildren. Steven and his wife, Deborah, have six children/step-children: Richard Edney (Jessica), Scott Bricker (Kim), Nicole Dunkle (Mike), Tina Wood (Tom), Wendy White (Brian) and James Bricker. Carolyn and her husband, Joe, have two sons, Brian (Kim) and Mark (Amy) Kahl.

She graduated from Delaware High School in Delaware, OH in 1939 and earned a nursing degree from Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, OH in 1941. She was a dedicated registered nurse who loved her profession and helping people. As a Red Cross volunteer, she taught many medical and care-giving classes and worked the Red Cross Bloodmobile. To many kids growing up during the 1960s she was like a second mother and always had time to listen, offer sound advice and kind words of encouragement.

Her active 45-year nursing career culminated in 1986 when she retired as the Bucyrus General Electric plant nurse. She continued to be very active in Bucyrus American Legion Auxiliary #181, TWIG, Kingwood Garden Herb Society, and other civic organizations. She loved her gardening, baking and canning and specially her sewing. She made and donated over 300 baby blankets for underprivileged babies. She had a full and spiritually growing life and will be missed by many. She was a member of the St. John’s United Church of Christ.
