Paul G. Keener, 85, of Lakeland, Florida, and formerly of Swanton, Ohio, passed away at his Florida home on October 31, 2010. Paul, the youngest of eight children, was born August 28, 1925, to Albert F. and Lena (Stuessy) Keener.
A graduate of Swanton High School, Paul married Lucille Meller on November 10, 1945. They made their home on the Keener family farm where they raised their three children. Paul pursued a career in farming during the majority of his life and was also a bus driver for Swanton schools. After leaving the farm, he worked for several years in his own construction business following which time, he and his wife spent many enjoyable retirement years in both Fort Myers and Lakeland, Florida. Among other hobbies and activities, the Keeners enjoyed traveling and camping throughout the country.
Paul is survived by his wife, Lucille; sons, William H. (Candice), and Tom A. (Donna); daughter, Sandra K. (Peter) Pilliod; seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Debra; brother, Burton; sisters, Grace Munson, Dorothy Huth, Norma Moyer, Edith Haley, Mildred Newhouse, and Marjory Jones.
A private service for family and friends will be held in Lakeland, Florida. Future services in Swanton are pending. Those wishing to make a contribution in Paul’s memory are asked to consider a local Hospice organization or a charity of the donor’s choice.
