Patricia Lee Rogar, age 70, of Swanton, Ohio, formerly of Sacramento, California, entered eternal rest, Tuesday morning, July 29, 2008 in her home, following a brief illness. She was born December 4, 1937 in Toledo, Ohio to Magna and Naomi (Cleveland) Nygard.

Patricia was a 1955 graduate of Waite High School. She then attended California State University in Northridge, and UCLA to obtain a masters degree in French. Patricia’s life revolved around teaching, she taught French and Latin for St. Genevive High School from 1970-1976. She then taught for Sacramento City Unified School District for 15 years, retiring in 2002. Patricia moved back to Ohio to care for her mother during the last five years of her life. She was a self-taught oil painter and loved animals, especially dogs. She loved to collect Judy Garland memorabilia, and attended many Judy Garland events. Patricia was a long time parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi in Sacramento and member of St. Richard Catholic Church in Swanton, where she was a member of the church choir. Her passion in life was to sing for the Lord and perform service-oriented work for the community.

Patricia is survived by her son, Michael Rogar; daughter, Jennifer Rogar; grandchildren, Jessica and Johnny Tosney and Michael and Christopher Rogar; brother, Terry (Francene) Nygard; former husband, Michel Rogar, as well as several cousins and many dear friends in Sacramento. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Martin Nygard.

Friends and family may visit Friday, August 1st from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton (419-826-2631). A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 2nd at St. Richard Catholic Church, with Fr. Dan Zak officiating. Interment will follow at St. Richard’s Cemetery.
