Olive Rose "Ollie" Simon

Calling Hours: Friday, December 30th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora

Olive Rose Simon, affectionately known as Ollie, age 87, of Swanton, Ohio, entered into eternal rest, Tuesday morning, December 27, 2011. She was born February 15, 1924 in Metamora, Ohio to the late Ed and Maude (Irwin) Myers. She married Raymond F. Simon on September 8, 1945, and he preceded her in death on April 13, 2004.

Ollie worked several years at the St. Mary’s Meat Locker. She was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Assumption and its Altar Rosary Society. Ollie was devoted to the Rosary. She was also a member of St. Mary’s Catholic War Veterans Post #306 Ladies Auxiliary and Catholic Order of Foresters. Ollie loved playing pinochle and euchre with her friends on a weekly basis, and will be remembered as a wonderful baker, who loved baking cookies for her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Joe (Beth Scharte) Simon of Swanton, OH and Jeff (Theresa) Simon of Metamora, OH; grandchildren, Jeremy (Darcy) Simon, Jason (Amy) Simon, Jim (Susan) Simon, Justin Simon, Jacob (Laura) Simon and Ella Rose Simon; great-grandchildren, Julia, Joshua, Jordan, Jenna, Claudia and Eli Simon; and sisters, Theresa Truckor, Regina Langenderfer, and Mary Jeanette (Al) Langenderfer.

Family and friends may visit Friday, December 30th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.. Visitation will continue Saturday, December 31st from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Assumption, where a Mass of Resurrection will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Ron Schock officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Church or the Metamora-Amboy Twp. Volunteer Fire Department.
