Minor Erwin Brand, age 92, of Sylvania, Ohio, formerly of Metamora, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Sunday morning, July 26, 2009, at Kingston Residence of Sylvania. He was born April 6, 1917 in Grass Lake, Michigan to Joseph and Ida (Stoker) Brand. On May 16, 1942, he married Jennie Rothman. She preceded him in death on June 11, 2008.

Minor retired in 1980 from Daimler Chrysler. He was a life-long farmer and member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Riga, Michigan.

He is survived by his children, Floyd (Marian) Brand of Melrose, WI, Dolores (Jim) Schmenk of Avilla, IN, Robert (Marci) Brand of Elk, WA, Marlene (Tom) Bettinger of Elk, WA and Max (Rita) Brand of Toledo, OH; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Floyd Brand of Manchester, MI; sister, Audrey Brand of Grass Lake, MI; sisters-in-law, Emily (Henry) Vsetula of Owosso, MI and Doris Claydon of Waterford, MI; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, Jennie, Minor was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Orrie Brand; and sister, Nina Housel.

Friends and family may visit Wednesday, July 29th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 30th at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 11949 Wegner Rd, in Riga, Michigan, with Rev. James Seelow officiating. Interment will follow at Amboy Township Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church.
