Minnie A. Pifer, age 89, of Jasper, Michigan, passed away peacefully in her home Thursday morning, February 5, 2009, surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 4, 1919, in Blissfield Township, the oldest child of 5, born to Frank and Marie (Martlock) Dickerson. She married Kenneth Pifer on January 21, 1939, in Ogden Township, and he preceded her in death in 1972.

Minnie was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Metamora, Ohio. She worked nearly 60 years as a floral designer at Pifer’s Greenhouse, Adrian Floral, and Royal Expressions in Blissfield.

Surviving are 2 children, Richard (Lynda) Pifer of Blissfield, MI and Carol (Tony) Herr of Metamora, OH; 1 brother, Donald (Gladys) Dickerson of Metamora, OH; 2 sisters, Virginia Pickford of Clayton MI and Marilyn (Vladdie) Hejl of Blissf ield, MI; 5 grandchildren, Paige, Jeff (Tammy) and Dennis (Debbie) Pifer, and Scott and Kris Slusarski; 11 great-grandchildren, Shane, Melissa and Nicole Slusarski, Jamie and Monica Valdez, and Colton, Denver, Blaine, Alaina, Jack and Emma Pifer; and 2 great-great-grandchildren, Natalie and Noah Slusarski.

Besides her husband, Kenneth, Minnie was preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Elnora and George House; brother-in-law, Howard Pickford; and, very dear friend, Doug Barnaby.

A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, February 15, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 413 E. Main St. in Metamora (419-644-3601), where visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Pastor Pete Valdez will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee County.
