Mildred “Millie” Pinkava, age 83, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly in her home, Monday afternoon, March 22, 2010. She was born September 23, 1926 in Toledo, Ohio to William and Emma (Felzer) Raufeisen. She was a 1944 graduate of Waite High School. On May 21, 1949, she married the love of her life, Jerry S. Pinkava.
Millie was a member of St. Richard Catholic Parish and member of the American Czech & Slovak Dance Club. She loved baking and spending time with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Millie is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Jerry; daughter, Sandra Pinkava of Oregon, OH; son, Jerry M. (Joanne) Pinkava of Swanton, OH; grandchildren, Michael Pinkava, Mary (Chris) Zenz, Jerad (Vicki) Pinkava, and Melissa Pinkava.
Millie was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Edward and William; and sisters, Elizabeth and Gladys.
A Memorial Gathering will be held Saturday, March 27th from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, where memorial services will begin at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Swanton Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Swanton Fire & Rescue or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
