Michael James Wines, age 52, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2008 at Swanton Health Care & Retirement Center, following a long battle with multiple sclerosis. He was born November 9, 1955 in Toledo, Ohio to Russell James and Helen Mae (Green) Wines. He was a machinist for Eagle Pitcher in Delta, Ohio until 1999.
Michael was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, motorcross racing and playing softball. He was a member of the National Wildlife Foundation and the NRA.
He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Mae Wines; father, Russell Wines; brother, Robert (Sue) Wines; former wife, Veronica (McDowell) Wines; nieces and nephews, Nicholas and Christopher Wines and Brittany (Jacob) Hall; father-in-law, Carl McDowell and sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Ann (Jeff) Young, Mark (Sondra) McDowell and son, Wes, Matthew (Jeri) McDowell and Teresa (Kevin) Mercer and daughters, Yarin and Sophia; as well as step-sisters, Kathy Johnston and Kelly (Mark) Barton and faithful dalmation, Hunter.
Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Helen.
Friends and family may visit Thursday evening, September 11th from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, where a memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Pastor Tom Bates will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to Neapolis or Swanton Fire & Rescue.
