Michael Dean Loeffler, also known as “Bear”, age 60, of Swanton, Ohio, entered into eternal rest, Saturday morning, August 24, 2024. He was born September 3, 1963, in Toledo, Ohio to Edmond “Ed” and Rose Ann (Dowling) Loeffler. He was a 1981 graduate of Evergreen High School.
Mike was a lifelong farmer and member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Assumption. He loved family gatherings, fishing, fast cars, tractor pulls and most of all watching his two boys play basketball. He was proud to be a farmer and was passionate about having a well-managed crop grow into a successful harvest. Mike also had a big heart for animals and had many four-legged buddies over the years; most recently his little friend Kareem.
Mike is survived by his two sons, Mason and Ethan Loeffler, brother, Mark (Pam) Loeffler; sister, Michelle (Steve) Betz; nephews and nieces, Derek Loeffler, Megan Loeffler, Collin Loeffler, Taylor Betz, Jake (Bevanne) Betz and Garrett Betz; many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. Mike was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 28th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, where a Vigil service will begin at 7:30. Visitation will continue Thursday, August 29th from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Assumption, where a Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 am, with Fr. Walter Tuscano presiding. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Assumption.
Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
