Melvin L. Myers, age 85, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away Wednesday morning, November 17, 2010, at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was born May 25, 1925 in Swanton, Ohio to Sylvester and Loretta (Koepfer) Myers. On July 25, 1949, he married Beatrice Hildreth.

He worked for The Andersons for over 47 years in construction as a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed farming and driving Farmall tractors!

Melvin was a member of St. Richard Catholic Parish and 50 year member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Beatrice; children, Paul Joseph Myers, Robert Melvin Myers, Barbara (Gary) Bowser, Debra Myers (Fiance, Mike Patterson), and Sheri White; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; half-sisters, Marynette Hipp, Bonnie (Tom) Bollinger, Donna Pollex-Najarian and Joan Bettinger; half-brother, John Myers; niece, Joyce Hollingshead and nephew, Jack Russell.

Besides his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by his sister, Roberta Russell and infant brother, Charles.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Bonnie and Tom Bollinger for all the kindness and compassion they gave in their time of need.

Friends and family may visit Friday, November 19th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, where a Scripture service will be held at 7:00 p.m.. Melvin’s body will lie in state one hour prior to the Mass on Saturday, November 20th at St. Richard Catholic Church, where the Mass of Resurrection will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Ron Schock. Interment will follow at Marygrove Cemetery at Immaculate Conception on Raab Road.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Richard Church or a Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
