Melvin Glenn Darm, age 65, of Blissfield, Michigan, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 22, 1945 in Streator, Illinois to Glenn and Ruth (Ingram) Darm. Melvin served in the U.S. Navy from 1963 to 1966 on the USS Chevalier DD-805. On June 5, 1965, he married his high school sweetheart, Diane Kay Betz. Melvin was an electrician for the Dana Corporation for 19 years and GM Powertrain for 22 years, before retiring. He was a member of Metamora United Methodist Church. Melvin enjoyed working outdoors, gardening and mowing lawn, and beating others in a good game of euchre or peanuts. He was a family man who cherished his time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, Diane.

He is survived by loving wife of 46 years, Diane; sons, Nathaniel (Wendy) Darm of Morenci, MI, Shannon (Jennifer) Darm of Toledo, OH, and Nicholas (Penny) Darm of Blissfield, MI; 7 grandchildren, Devin, Damien, Daniel, Matthew, Alexis, Lillian, and Addyson; sister, Virginia “Ginny” Withrow; brothers and sisters-in-law, Melvin (Diana) Betz, Ted Betz, and Gale (Bev) Betz; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Ruth Darm; and siblings, Judy Frederick, Robert Darm, and Karen Darm.

A memorial service will be held Friday, April 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Church in Ogden Center (Blissfield), Michigan, with Rev. Aiden Porter officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
