Maynard R. Habel, age 89, of Delta, Ohio, died peacefully, after a brief illness, Thursday, December 2, 2010. He was born June 20, 1921 at the Habel homestead in Dutch Ridge to Oliver and Maud (Hartel) Habel.

He farmed and worked at Jeep until he retired in 1984. He and his wife of 50 years Juleen “Mickie” enjoyed church and school activities and traveling all over the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Europe.

Maynard is survived by his children, Conni (Jim) Stephens, Deborah (Darryl) Langenderfer, Robert, Lowell, Paul, and Morgan (Tess) Habel; 11 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Juleen; 3 siblings; 1 son; and 1 great-grandson.

Friends and family may visit Saturday, December 4th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419.826.2631). Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 5th at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Donna Stutzman officiating. Interment will follow at Dutch Ridge Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ebeid Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choice.
