Matthew Owen Shane, age 58, of Curtice, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital. He was born November 4, 1957 in Toledo, Ohio to Edward and Phyllis (Schultz) Shane. Matt was a 1976 graduate of Evergreen High School. Following graduation, he began his apprenticeship training thru UA Local 50 earning Journeyman status as a plumber and steamfitter working for several contractors until his retirement in 2010.

Matt was a Sons of The American Legion member of Joseph W. Diehn Post #468 and Sylvania Moose Lodge #1579. Matt's hobbies included off and on-road motorcycle riding, hunting, fishing, boating, and camping.

Matt was a kind, gentle, and generous man and will be missed by his many friends; his mother, Phyllis Shane; brother, Bruce (Karen) Shane; nieces; and many other relatives.

Matt was preceded in death by his father, Edward Shane.

A memorial gathering will be held at an announced date in the future. Interment will be private.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff at St. Luke's Hospital for their care and compassion.
