Mary Louise Skinner, a devoted mother and dedicated teacher, passed away peacefully on June 9th, 2023 at Story Point Senior Living in Waterville, Ohio. She was born on March 28th, 1943 in Toledo, Ohio to Alphonse Sr. and Louise (Lukachek) Versprille.
Mary received her Bachelor’s degree and went on to become a beloved teacher at St. Joseph's in Maumee, Ohio. She touched the lives of countless students over the years, providing guidance and inspiration that they carry with them to this day.
Beyond teaching, Mary was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-aunt, cousin, companion and friend. Her warm smile and inviting personality made everyone feel welcome in her presence. Mary cherished time spent with friends and family over coffee and conversations that would last for hours.
When Mary wasn’t busy teaching or enjoying time with loved ones she had many hobbies that she enjoyed including painting, bowling, gardening and travelling. Her creativity was not only evident in her art but also in the way she lived her life; always finding beauty in everything she touched.
She is survived by her sons, Patrick (Kim) Skinner and Ryan (Brenda) Skinner; sister, Robin Holly Ross; brother, Alphonse J. Versprille Jr.; grandchildren, Easton (Madison Love) Skinner, Camden Skinner, Shea Skinner, Riley Skinner; companion, Phillip Arps; brother-in-law Thomas Stapleton; sister-in-law Joyce Versprille; nieces and nephews, Matthew and Theresa Stapleton, Andrew (Drew) and Meghan Stapleton, Bridget (Stapleton) and Frances Duffy, Morris (Marty) and Marina Ross, Alphonse (Joey) Ross, Linda Robinson, Jeanne (Miller) and Jacob Leeper, John (Rusty) and Aishe Miller; grand-nieces and nephews Meghan Stapleton, Morgan Stapleton, Conor Stapleton, Maddigan Stapleton, Ford Stapleton, Frankie Duffy, Tommy Duffy, Charlotte Duffy, Addison Ross, Buddy Ross, Emmy Ross, Chris and Christine Flynn, Ally (Flynn) and James Armbruster, Sarah Leeper, Aliyah Leeper, Tikvah Leeper, Judah Leeper, Ahavah Leeper, Max Miller, Zoe Miller.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Edward "Sonny" Skinner; her sister, Sandy Stapleton; brother-in-law Morris (Buddy) Ross as well as sister-in-law Sharon Miller (Skinner).
Her warmth and kindness towards others was unmatched and her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
A Graveside Service for Mary will be held on June 24th at 11:00 am at the Fulton Union Christian Church in Delta Ohio.
