Mary L. Mitchey-Bettinger

Mary L. Mitchey-Bettinger, age 90, of Berkey, Ohio, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015 at Swanton Health Care surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born on June 9, 1924 in Richfield Center to Lewis and Matilda Mary (Eisel) Ott. She was married to Stephen J. Mitchey, Sr. for 39 years; he preceded her in death on June 17, 1981. She then married Linus Bettinger on October 8, 1982; he preceded her in death on April 20, 2004.

Mary was a devoted Catholic and was member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish and its Altar and Rosary Society. She loved gardening and was known to have the best garden in the county. Mary also enjoyed watching WWE Wrestling, and working word searches. When she was 82 years old, she traveled to Las Vegas to gamble, which was always a dream of hers. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Mary will be greatly missed by her loving children, William (Patty) Mitchey, Eugene (Patty) Mitchey, Thomas (Robin) Mitchey, Karen (Randy) Wilson, Gregory (Mariah Morningstar) Mitchey, and Deborah (Michael) Rose; 26 grandchildren, and 33 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marjorie Haupricht and Kathleen (Jim) Kasch.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Stephen and Linus; son, Stephen Mitchey, Jr.; 5 great-grandchildren; and 10 brothers and sisters.

Family and friends may visit Wednesday, May 27th from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Prayers will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home on Thursday, May 28th, followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Assumption, with Fr. Michael Dandurand presiding. Interment will follow at St. Elizabeth Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Swanton Health Care & Retirement Center.

Visitation: Wednesday, May 27th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora

Funeral Service: Thursday, May 28st at 11:00 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church

Interment: St. Elizabeth Cemetery
