Mary Louise Carver, age 90, of Metamora, Ohio, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 18, 2009, at Swanton Health Care & Retirement Center. Mary was born in Metamora, Ohio on December 6, 1918, to pioneer parents Frank and Rose Ann (Iffland) Brodbeck. She attended the Toledo Beauty Academy after high school and opened her own beauty shop in Whitehouse, Ohio. Mary married Rolland J. Murbach and he preceded her in death on November 5, 1940 at the age of 22. Mary later married George W. Drennan Jr. and he preceded her in death in 1971. Mary married Edwin W. Carver and he preceded her in death in 1996.
Mary Louise’s grandparents were among the original settlers in the Amboy area. Her grandfather was a brick maker and mason. The home that Mary Louise was born in is described as the “Pioneer Home” (History of Fulton County, 1918). Her father, born on the farm in 1864, was a progressive farmer, and owned and operated a threshing rig. Mary’s grandchildren remember fondly the huge meals enjoyed during the holidays. It was said “…there’s enough food to feed the thrashers!”
She is survived by her children, Terry (Diane) Drennan, Richard (Leora) Murbach, Jack Murbach, Cheri (Jim) Fath, and Gary Drennan; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; nieces, Linda and Deloris, and nephew, Bobby Brodbeck.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and 3 brothers.
A memorial service will be held, Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, 413 E. Main St. in Metamora (419-644-3601).
